Colin Cowherd isn’t high on Notre Dame.
Despite the Irish winning their ninth straight game on Saturday – thumping then-ranked No. 19 Army 49-14 at Yankee Stadium – the Fox Sports host doesn’t think Marcus Freeman’s squad is all that great. Notre Dame is ranked fifth this week in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and has wins this season over four opponents who were ranked when they played.
But the Irish did lose at home in September to Northern Illinois. And they have just one victory over a team currently ranked by the CFP committee in No. 20 Texas A&M.
Are the Irish contenders or pretenders?
Cowherd believes it’s the latter and likes USC to cover +7.5 against Notre Dame this weekend.
“Lincoln Riley is emptying the tank, they’ve got nothing to lose… USC beat LSU and they should’ve beaten Penn State in overtime at home… Don’t be shocked if Notre Dame gets bounced.”
“I’m going to reverse my pick. I’m taking USC +7.5 points… Don’t be shocked if Notre Dame gets bounced.”

Cowherd also sounded the alarm and put Texas, Tennessee and Georgia on upset alert in rivalry week.
