Colin Cowherd is expected to return to his sports talk show on Thursday in New Orleans during the leadup to Super Bowl Sunday after an illness forced the longtime host to leave The Herd during Monday’s show.
Cowherd was replaced abruptly on Monday by Jason McIntyre, who once again held down the fort for Cowherd during Tuesday’s show. McIntyre told the audience that Cowherd was feeling better but not well enough to return less than 24 hours after being forced to go home sick. But McIntyre made it known that the 61-year-old Cowherd would be back behind the microphone for Thursday’s show in New Orleans, where the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday.
“Colin out sick, but he is back Thursday at the Super Bowl, we will be live from New Orleans,” McIntyre said Tuesday, per Awful Announcing. “He tells me he’s going to treat me to all these expensive meals down there. I’m like, ‘Dude, I don’t know if I want to sit next to you if you’re sick.’ But he says he’s fine, he’s gonna be ok.”
Monday was an unusual and scary situation for Cowherd, who suddenly did not feel well during his show and wasn’t afraid to tell the audience exactly what was going on.
Folks, I am going to take a break,” Cowherd said suddenly on Monday. “I am getting very, very sick very, very quickly on the set. We will return.
The Herd’s social media account quickly put out a statement that reassured his viewers that Cowherd was “doing OK.” Cowherd later posted a message thanking everyone for their concern, adding that he will be fine.
After telling the audience that Cowherd was continuing to feel better on Tuesday, McIntyre added that another member of the staff was forced to go home sick.
