College football fans express concern about Auburn in 2022
By Keith Farner
Published:
TJ Finley struggled at times for Auburn during the Birmingham Bowl to find consistency, as he had several overthrows, but also one drive where he was 5-for-5 for 82 yards and a touchdown on a go-ahead scoring drive in the second half.
There were a lot of comparisons to Bo Nix, and one fan even brought up Florida’s Emory Jones.
After Houston took a 17-13 lead in the game, which was the final score, Auburn couldn’t convert a fourth down from its own 33-yard line, as a Tank Bigsby run was followed by 3 incomplete passes by Finley.
Overall, Finley was 19-for-34 passing for 227 yards and a touchdown.
Auburn finished 6-7 this season.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction to Finley’s performance and 2022 expectations:
If TJ Finley is going to be the Auburn QB next year…. He needs a lot of work or the Tigers are in trouble

I don’t think he will be our starter, however, regardless, I hope our new OC can develop him and the other QBs coming in

Finley overthrows yet another streaking Auburn receiver. This time it was Malcolm Johnson who had separation.
Finley’s missed throws on the deep balls are big misses for the Tigers today.

I see a lot of “blah blah blah yall said Nix was bad, now look.”
I got a news flash for yall. Nix wasn’t good. Finley is just a lot worse. Auburn wasn’t going anywhere with Nix. #wareagle— Zach Taylor (@Best5Zach) December 28, 2021
Do TJ Finley and Emory Jones have the same QB coach? Just curious. #BirminghamBowl #Auburn

TJ Finley is NOT the long term answer Auburn fans. #WarEagle

If TJ Finley touches one blade of grass in Auburn next year, I will be in jail by week 2.
