College football head coach receives positive update after hospitalization
On Sunday, Eastern Kentucky head coach Walt Wells suffered a cardiac episode that left him hospitalized. On Tuesday, Wells’ wife updated Wells is stable and breathing on his own.
The latest update came later on Tuesday night, “ANOTHER UPDATE: Just talked to (Walt’s) wife, Jennifer, happy to report he is now breathing on his own They removed the vent and he’s breathing. Thanks for all the prayers and thank you Jesus! More updates later. He’s a tough ole bastard.”

Eastern Kentucky is set to start its season on the road against Eastern Michigan on Friday, Sept. 2. Gerry McPeek is serving as the acting head coach of Eastern Kentucky while Wells is recovering. McPeek was promoted from director of football operations to chief of staff last off-season, the university announced on Monday.
