Former Florida State head coach Willie Taggart was fired by FAU Saturday according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. The Owls fired Taggart after a 2nd straight 5-7 season.

Taggart was hired in 2020 following the departure of Lane Kiffin. The straw that broke the camel’s back was a 32-31 loss to Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon.

Ironic enough, Taggart got his head coaching start at Western Kentucky before moving to South Florida, Oregon, Florida State and eventually FAU.

Taggart has not recorded a winning season since 2017 at Oregon.
