College Football Playoff’s replacement for Bill Hancock will be Lieutenant Richard M. Clark.
Hancock will be stepping down from the position of executive director once his contract expires in 2025. Hancock will stay on through Jan. 2025 to help Clark get ready for the position.
Clark has served in the Air Force and flown in 3 Middle East conflicts and was the first black Superintendent at the academy. Clark was honored to accept the position with the CFP and looks forward to getting started.
“I am honored to become the executive director of the College Football Playoff,” said Clark in a press release. “College football is an American tradition unlike any other. Especially now, as the Playoff is expanding from four teams to 12 teams, this is an exciting time for fans and everyone involved in this great game. I’m excited to be a part of it and I look forward to beginning my work.”

Hancock was the only person to ever be executive director of the CFP. The first season that the CFP was instituted was back in 2015.
Ohio State and Oregon faced off in the national championship game that season with the Buckeyes coming out on top.
It sounds like even more changes will be coming to college football in 2025.
