College football program uses viral Dwyane Wade statue in attempt to distract opposing kicker
Columbia is going to interesting lengths to distract Yale’s kicker on Friday night.
Shortly before halftime of the meeting between these Ivy League giants this week, Yale scored a touchdown to take a 6-3 lead. As Yale lined up to take the ensuing extra point, Columbia put a photo of the much-maligned Dwyane Wade statue on their Jumbotron just behind the uprights.
Here’s a look at the situation:

Wade’s statue was revealed outside of the Miami Heat’s arena earlier this week to heavy criticism from the sports world. A basketball legend, Wade won 3 titles with the Heat during his professional career.
Unfortunately for Wade and the Heat, his statue has become a bit of a punch line this week — with Columbia’s stunt being just the latest example.
Yale and Columbia have a rivalry in football that dates back decades. The Bulldogs are 72-22-2 all-time in this series and have won 4 consecutive matchups entering Friday’s contest.
