College football rankings: 4 SEC featured in Week 12 ‘Super 16’ poll

As the 2021 college football season heads into Rivalry Week, 4 SEC teams are ranked in the Super 16, the poll put out by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF).
For the sixth straight week, Georgia is ranked No. 1. The Bulldogs received all 52 first-place votes after a non-conference victory over Charleston Southern. Ohio State jumped ahead of Alabama for the No. 2 spot. OSU defeated top-10 opponent Michigan State in a 56-7 blowout while the Crimson Tide topped Arkansas 42-35.
The SEC and Big Ten lead the way with 4 teams each in the poll. From the SEC, Ole Miss checks in at No. 8 while Texas A&M is No. 14.
The Big 12 has 3 teams and Independents make up 2 teams. The American, Conference USA and Pac-12 have a team each.

The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season. Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results are released on Sundays during the college football season. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers. The FWAA-NFF boasts a “balanced-geographical perspective” for the Super 16.
