College football rankings: AP Poll Top 25 prediction in Week 13

Associated Press Top 25 voters have a relatively light workload after Week 12.

All 25 teams were in action. Twenty teams won while five lost. Three of the five that lost were playing higher-ranked teams.

The most notable changes will be made due to No. 7 West Virginia losing to unranked Oklahoma State 45-41. Considering the way Oklahoma State has played other highly ranked teams, like Oklahoma, WVU’s loss doesn’t look all that bad. The Mountaineers fall to 8-2, a record which will probably keep them above three-loss teams such as Texas and Florida.

Speaking of Florida, the Gators are predicted here to move up because No. 14 Utah State beat Colorado State 29-24 only because a Hail Mary did not count (the CSU receiver barely stepped on the line running down the field, making him ineligible to catch it in the end zone). CSU was a 2-8 team. The voters may keep Utah State and allow UF to jump into that No. 13 spot opened up by the shuffling in the rankings (No. 12 Syracuse losing to No. 3 Notre Dame).

Another predicted tweak: Penn State is dinged for beating a one-win Rutgers team only 20-7. Washington only beat a two-win Oregon State squad by 19 (42-23), but that’s still better than a 13-point win over one of the worst teams in college football.
