Rivalry Week delivered the goods.

It’s unlikely many non-Mississippi State fans were entertained by Thursday’s Egg Bowl, but by Friday night, we were cooking. No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 12 West Virginia did their best Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams impression, trading scores right up until the clock hit 0:00. The Sooners won 59-56 to earn a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game and stay alive in the College Football Playoff.

There was still more excitement to be had Friday night as No. 16 Washington defeated rival No. 7 Washington State 28-15 to further shakeup the rankings and win the Apple Cup.

As far as rankings are concerned, the biggest result of the weekend came in the early block of Saturday games. No. 10 Ohio State not only beat, but blew out arch-rival No. 4 Michigan 62-39, shaking up the CFP race heading into the conference championship games. It might not be the most talked-about game of the week, however.

No. 8 LSU fell to Texas A&M in a seven-overtime new classic, 74-72. It was almost a simple 31-24 win for the Tigers, but a late interception was called off and the Aggies rallied to tie on the final play of the game. In overtime, every touchdown and every two-point conversion was answered. But when LSU went up 72-66, it missed the two-point try. Texas A&M made its two-point try to end the game.
