The college football rankings have a new No. 1.

Notre Dame knocked off top-ranked Clemson 47-40 in double overtime Saturday night. The Irish’s win deserves an asterisk because of Trevor Lawrence’s absence, but it’s important to remember that the AP voters kept Clemson at No. 1 after the Lawrence-less Tigers beat Boston College. Even with Lawrence sidelined, beating No. 1 is still beating No. 1.

Notre Dame will now be 7-0 with the most impressive victory of the college football season, a win over the No. 1 team.

There are other changes in the Top 10. Georgia dropped out of the top ten after losing 44-28 to No. 8 Florida. Florida and Texas A&M both moved up.
