What can we expect in the upcoming releases of the college football rankings? The updated AP top 25 and Coaches polls will be out on Sunday. The updated College Football Playoff rankings will be out this week.
At the top, it’s likely we won’t see much changes. However, increased attention will be on Ohio State as the Buckeyes are forced to miss games due to COVID-19 protocols. Can the Buckeyes still get into the Playoff if they don’t play enough games to get into the Big Ten Championship? These questions will be continually asked in the weeks ahead.
The Florida and Texas A&M battle in the 5 and 6 spots will continue to receive attention since Texas A&M beat Florida. However, Florida is going to get a chance at a major win in the SEC Championship Game over Alabama in a few weeks. Should Florida win the SEC, the Gators will get into a 4-game playoff. If they lose, they are likely on the outside looking in.
Big games are ahead to continue to shake out the final college football rankings, but unfortunately COVID-19 related cancelations are probably ahead as well. Many variables this season.
