Southern Illinois was so close, yet so far away in Saturday’s 37-16 loss to Northern Iowa.
The Salukis came up just short — 1 yard short to be exact — in a final Hail Mary attempt in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. It doesn’t get much more painful than this.

With the loss, the Salukis drop to 5-4 overall while the Panthers jump to the exact same record. Southern Illinois will look to get back to the right side of the win column as they face the North Dakota State Bison at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Southern Illinois is now on a two-game losing streak after falling in yet another close game the week before as the Salukis were defeated 27-24 by South Dakota on Oct. 22.
