The “College GameDay” panel made their ACC championship picks on Saturday ahead of Florida State and Georgia Tech’s Week 0 tilt in Dublin.
The GameDay crew — including newcomer Nick Saban — had varied opinions about who’d hoist the conference trophy in Charlotte in December. For his part, only Saban picked Florida State to win back-to-back conference titles.
Meanwhile, Desmond Howard picked Miami, who has yet to win the ACC since entering the league in 2004. Pat McAfee chose Virginia Tech, whose last conference championship came in 2010. Kirk Herbstreit picked Clemson, with the Tigers missing out on the conference’s top prize last year for just the second time in nine seasons.
The Seminoles are the defending conference champions, winning their first ACC crown since 2014. Mike Norvell’s team will seek a repeat and hope to secure a place in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024.
Their quest to do just that begins at Aviva Stadium in Dublin as they take on the Yellow Jackets. The Noles haven’t lost to an ACC opponent since Oct. 15, 2022, against Clemson.
