College GameDay was live from College Station in Week 14 for the long-awaited resumption of the Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry series. Along the way, ESPN’s popular pre-game show and crew of personalities tackled the Notre Dame vs. USC rivalry series.
The Trojans vs. Fighting Irish is a series that dates back to 1926. The series has taken many twists and turns with the Fighting Irish holding a 49-37-5 all-time edge.
This season, USC has scratched and clawed to a 6-5 record and bowl eligibility entering the final week of the season. It has not been a season to remember for Lincoln Riley, but the Trojans can end the year on a high note with a major upset.
On the other hand, Notre Dame is eying a trip to the College Football Playoff. It’s possible Marcus Freeman’s unit has already secured its spot, but the Irish would likely lockdown a home Playoff game with a win on Saturday.
Here is how the GameDay crew picked that game:
Desmond Howard: Notre Dame. “Close game, fighting irish will win.”
Nick Saban: Notre Dame. “I like Notre Dame as well… I think they’re playing as well as anyone in the country.”
Pat McAfee: Notre Dame. “Boys are buzzin’, Riley Leonard is a buzzsaw… I have Notre Dame.”
Dude Perfect: Notre Dame
Lee Corso: Notre Dame. “Never bet against the Catholics.”
Kirk Herbstreit: Notre Dame. “I’m going Notre Dame.”
Rece Davis: USC. “Straight up, USC wins the game.”
Saturday’s broadcast is set for a 3:30 pm ET/12:30 pm PT kickoff. It will also be aired on CBS with the Trojans hosting for the first time as a Big Ten program.
