College GameDay produces emotional feature on late Auburn broadcaster Rod Bramblett
College football fans, especially in the South, often feel a deep connection to the play-by-play voice of their favorite team. They take them through the highs and lows of a season, and not many other broadcasters have a finger on the pulse of a program like the local broadcaster.
It was no different for Auburn fans when it came to play-by-play voice Rod Bramblett, who tragically passed away with his wife, Paula, in a car wreck last May.
Whether it was the “Touchdown Auburn!” call passed down from Jim Fyffe or his emotional reactions to the “Miracle in Jordan-Hare” and the “Kick Six,” Bramblett had already cemented himself as an Auburn legend before his tragic death.
On Saturday morning, College GameDay produced a moving feature centered around Bramblett and his wife Paula, their children, and his good friend and replacement Andy Burcham.
Once again, Tom Rinaldi and the ESPN crew knocked it out of the park.
Andy Burcham is in his first season as the voice of Auburn football.
Every game, he hears the echo of Rod Bramblett, the legend who had the job before him.
