Home-field advantage can be a huge boost for college football teams, but on Saturday night, Colorado State’s fans ended up hurting the team.
As snow was coming down in Canvas Stadium, fans began making and throwing snowballs all around the stadium, including some targeted towards the Air Force bench. While fans might have been doing it in jest, it ended up costing Colorado State some yards.
The referees issues a warning in the first half for throwing snowballs, and as fans continued in the second half, they called an unsportsmanlike conduct on Colorado State’s bench, costing them 15 yards.

After giving Colorado State the penalty, the official politely asked fans to stop throwing snowballs.
“Will the audience please refrain from throwing snowballs?” the official asked. “It will continue to cost Colorado State.”
Air Force didn’t let the snowballs bother them, and they currently lead the Rams 20-13 around the halfway mark of the 3rd quarter.
