After a brief shutdown, work on the Bryant-Denny Stadium construction project has resumed in Tuscaloosa.

Work was temporarily halted over the weekend due to the coronavirus, as several workers tested positive for the virus, according to Cecil Hurt of The Tuscaloosa News.

In a statement from Caddell Construction Company provided to Hurt, the company handling the Bryant-Denny Stadium construction project claims all safety guidelines are being observed during their time working at the stadium.

“The safety of all of our employees and trade partners is our top priority. In addition to adhering to all established protocols to protect our workers, Caddell restricted operations over the past weekend after receiving notice of positive tests among some employees and trade partners. This allowed us to engage in additional deep-cleaning and provide testing by an independent laboratory so all of our team members could be cleared before returning to the job site.

“Our processes meet and/or exceed OSHA and CDC guidelines. We will continue to act on the latest guidance and information to promote the health and safety of our essential workforce.”

The Bryant-Denny Stadium construction project is projected to cost $92.5 million and is set to upgrade several features of the stadium, including the team’s walk into the stadium on game days in the fall.
