The New England Patriots aren’t having much luck with COVID this week as just days after Cam Newton tested positive and missed the team’s game against Kansas City, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has also reportedly tested positive.

All-Pro defensive back Stephon Gilmore tested positive on Tuesday according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Patriots played the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.

Newton was not available for the game after he tested positive for COVID.

This news places the Patriots on a pause for the time being, with no practice or activities scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

“The Patriots have now informed all Tier 1/2 personnel, including players, they’ll work remotely today in light of star CB Stephon Gilmore’s positive test, per source. Everyone still must show up to undergo daily COVID-19 testing. Results will impact where things go from here,” Pelissero is also reporting.

Gilmore, a product of South Carolina, defended 20 passes last season and had six interceptions for the Patriots.
