Mizzou F/C Jontay Porter watched as his brother, Michael Porter Jr., fell all the way to No. 14 in the 2018 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

MPJ eventually went to the Denver Nuggets, and now Jontay will try to make sure he goes even higher in the 2019 NBA Draft (should he decide to go pro after this season).

After the 2018 draft concluded, Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin said he believes Jontay’s best basketball is still ahead of him (via KansasCity.com):

“He did some great things for us this year, but I think his best basketball is ahead of him,” Martin told The Star on Thursday. “Long and athletic. He’s just getting started in my opinion. He’s just realizing the guy he can become. Barring any injury, he’ll probably be a better professional than he was as a college guy.”

The younger Porter could go even higher in the 2019 draft than his brother did on Thursday night, especially if he keeps improving for Mizzou this fall.

MPJ is with the Denver Nuggets now, and it’ll be interesting to see where Jontay ends up when he decides it’s time to head off to the NBA.
