With multiple FCS teams (such as The Citadel, Idaho and Chattanooga) and weak FBS teams (e.g. UMass) on the SEC schedule in Week 12, it was commonly referred to as Cupcake Week.
It was to be expected that there would be some lopsided scores. Somewhat surprisingly, two of those lopsided scores were against SEC defenses.
When the dust settled on Cupcake Week (cupcakes for a majority of teams at least), a record six SEC teams – Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri and Alabama – scored 50 or more points.
Obviously, this is not the kind of SEC history Tennessee and Arkansas wanted to be part of.
Georgia – 66 vs UMass
Florida – 63 vs Idaho
Auburn – 53 vs Liberty
Mississippi St – 52 vs Arkansas
Mizzou – 50 vs Tennessee
Alabama – 50 vs The Citadel6 @SEC teams scored 50+ points today, the most in a single day in conference history.
