Former Alabama lineman Cyrus Kouandjio signs with Canadian Football League team
Cyrus Kouandjio may have not landed an NFL contract during the league’s free agency period but the former All-American from Alabama at least landed a contract to play football for the coming season.
Kouandjio will head north to continue his playing career as the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League announced his signing on Monday. Kouandjio did not play in the NFL last season after playing two years for the Denver Broncos after being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
The former Crimson Tide lineman helped Alabama win consecutive national championships in 2012 and 2013. After being named an All-SEC and All-American selection, Kouandjio turned pro early.
During his NFL career, the Cameroon native has appeared in 30 total games in five seasons.
Kouandjio could not have picked a much better landing spot in the Canadian Football League as the Saskatchewan Roughriders finished in first place in the Western Division last season after going 13-5 overall.
