We have some bad news to share from Tuscaloosa as one of the team’s most promising true freshmen defenders has reportedly suffered an injury.

Defensive lineman D.J. Dale, who has emerged as a potential starter on Alabama’s defensive line following an outstanding fresh showing, has injured his knee according to Tony Tsoukalas of Bama Insider. That’s the bad news. The good news? It doesn’t appear Dale’s injury is as serious as it could be.

According to Bama Insider, Dale could miss a few weeks of training camp but is not expected to miss the start of the regular season. That’s certainly promising news.

Dale signed with Alabama out of Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Ala. The 4-star prospect was ranked as the nation’s No. 18 defensive tackle in the nation in the 2019 recruiting cycle.
