Dabo Swinney gives hilarious reason for having his punter take reps at QB

Dabo Swinney already uses wide receiver Hunter Renfrow in his quarterback rotation at practice. Now, the Clemson coach has another non-quarterback taking snaps at the position.
Swinney told the media on Wednesday that punter Will Spiers has joined the quarterback rotation.
While Swinney thinks Spiers is actually a decent passer, that’s not the only reason for his inclusion among the quarterbacks.
“He was a really good quarterback in high school and throws the ball better than many of them out there. He can flat out rip it,” Swinney said, according to TigerNet.com. “He is a guy I will probably leave there. He doesn’t have anything better to do other than play Fortnite anyway. Those punters and kickers don’t do anything. It will give him something to do with his time other than going down there and playing ping-pong.”
It’s certainly interesting to hear from a college football coach about the activity level of kickers and punters.
While it’s unlikely Spiers would ever play quarterback during a game, anything is possible. Although Renfrow could possibly serve as third-string quarterback for Clemson’s game against Wake Forest on Saturday.
