WATCH: Dabo Swinney honors former Alabama OC Woody McCorvey with touching story during award ceremony

Dabo Swinney is a coach that just gets it.
After winning his second national championship with the Tigers, it would be understandable if the Clemson coach got a bit big-headed. After all, he and his staff just outcoached the greatest head coach in modern college football history in the biggest game of the season.
Instead, during a ceremony that honored Swinney as the Bear Bryant National Coach of the Year, Swinney deflected the credit and took the opportunity to praise his mentor and friend, Woody McCorvey. If you were unaware, McCorvey, a former Alabama assistant coach, helped Dabo get a start in coaching following the end of Swinney’s playing days in Tuscaloosa.
When Swinney landed the head coaching job at Clemson, one of the first calls he made was to McCorvey. Soon after that call, McCorvey joined Swinney’s staff. McCorvey now serves as Clemson’s Associate Athletic Director of Football Administration.
