Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is looking to make his long-awaited return to the football field, with his hope to be ready to go for Sept. 9’s NFL Kickoff game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After being lost to an awful ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 season, the sight of the former Mississippi State great will be a welcome one for fans of a team that struggled to a 6-10 mark. But a sprained right shoulder has kept Prescott off the practice field for much of the past week. However, he has resumed light throwing, according to a team report from the Cowboys.

On Wednesday, the team announced that Prescott will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder after the team departs training camp in Oxnard, Calif. However, the report mentions that it is “not a setback in his rehab”.

Prescott, in fact, continues to be optimistic about his return against the defending Super Bowl champions.

“Once I get back in the team setting, I’m not going to think about my arm,” he said following the team’s practice on Wednesday. “It’s about progressing at the right time. It all felt good out there. Every throw I made.”

Prescott signed a 4-year, $160 million contract extension with the Cowboys on March 10.
