Dak Prescott reportedly dealing with ‘foot sprain’ ahead of training camp

Concern for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott rose on Thursday after he was spotted wearing a walking boot on his right foot.

Prescott was photographed wearing the boot while on vacation in Mexico.

However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Prescott’s injury is not considered to be severe. Rapoport classified it as a “very minor foot sprain” and said it’s not expected to impact his prep for the 2024-25 campaign.

That’s excellent news for Cowboys fans, who are hoping to get a full season out of their starting quarterback this year. Prescott has missed significant time with injuries throughout his career, although he did play all 17 games a year ago. Prescott was limited to 5 games in 2020 and 12 games in 2022.

It’s also good news for bettors who are backing the Cowboys or Prescott to have a big season this fall. According to the latest odds at FanDuel, the Cowboys are currently +1600 to win the Super Bowl. That’s tied for the 8th-best odds in the league. However, those odds would obviously change if Prescott were to miss significant time due to injury again.

Prescott’s season-long props could also be impacted if this foot issue were to continue into training camp or the regular season. Currently, Prescott’s single-season passing yardage total is set at 4,075.5 yards. Prescott has easily eclipsed that number in each of the last 3 full seasons he’s played.
