Dak Prescott and his strained calf didn’t do enough to make it into the starting lineup Sunday night for the Dallas Cowboys.

Prescott, the former Mississippi State star, reportedly attempted his normal pregame warmup routine ahead of the game against the Minnesota Vikings, but ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that Prescott will be inactive. Cooper Rush will start and former Florida QB Will Grier will be the back.

Sunday marked 2 weeks since Prescott first strained the calf on his game-winning touchdown pass in overtime at New England, NFL.com reported.

He got an injection the next day that brought him relief, and the Cowboys are confident the injury is minor. But Prescott was sore after ramping things up Thursday and threw on the side during Saturday’s practice before the flight to Minnesota. The last thing the Cowboys want is a setback that turns a minor injury into a lingering one.
