Dalton Knecht has been a solid performer in his rookie season for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the former Tennessee star is probably looking at reduced playing time after the organization traded for Luka Doncic this week.
That made a trade involving Knecht being shipped to the Charlotte Hornets an intriguing move for the young player. Unfortunately, that trade is no longer going to happen.
Saturday night, it was confirmed that the Lakers have rescinded the trade that would have sent Knecht, Cam Reddish and pick swaps to the Hornets in exchange for center Mark Williams. The reasoning involves the Hornets being unable to satisfy a condition of the trade with many outlets reporting concerns surrounding Williams’ long-term health outlook.

It remains to be seen what Knecht’s outlook will be back with the Lakers. The franchise and the Dallas Mavericks pulled off a stunning deal this week that sent Anthony Davis and Max Christie to the Mavericks in exchange for Doncic.
With LeBron James and Doncic now teaming up and both ball-dominant players, playing time for Knecht may be even more sparse moving forward. The Lakers are also in need of some size after shipping Davis to Dallas, and it initially appeared that Knecht was being used to acquire that size.
We’ll see how things shift moving forward with Knecht still a Laker.
