Dan Mullen knows what it takes to be a successful quarterback. The former SEC coach shared his top QB performances of Week 1 on Wednesday.

Several quarterbacks across the country impressed as they were expected to with some unexpected falters in there as well. Mullen, an ESPN analyst for another season, included Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Jordan Travis (Florida State), Michael Penix Jr. (Washington), Drew Allar (Penn State) and Mikey Keene (Fresno State) in his top-5 list.

The top name here, Sanders, garnered perhaps the most national attention throughout the week as he gives the Buffaloes a true chance at completing history under his father and head coach, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.

He finished out a statement 45-42 win over the TCU Horned Frogs completing 38-of-47 passes for 510 yards with 4 touchdowns.

In the first game of the season against LSU, Travis performed at the incredibly high level many anticipated he would, completing 23-of-31 passing attempts for 342 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Highly-touted going in to 2023, Travis is very much on the radar to be a potential first-round draft pick and Heisman Trophy candidate.
