Dan Mullen offers encouraging update on the status of QB Anthony Richardson
Quarterback Anthony Richardson missed Florida’s game last Saturday against Alabama with a hamstring injury, but the hope is that the Gators will have him back against Tennessee this weekend.
During his appearance on the weekly SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday, Florida coach Dan Mullen was asked about Richardson’s status and the news was positive.
“He’s looking good,” said Mullen of his sophomore quarterback. “We haven’t really opened him up a whole lot. We’re going to do an MRI and see where he’s at on Friday. … We’ve done more at practice with him this week than we did last week. … I would think he’d be ready to go on Saturday.”
Richardson has been backing up starter Emory Jones this season and has been exceptional in that role.
The 6-4, 236-pounder from Gainesville has completed 6-of-11 passes for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding 11 carried for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns.
