There’s definitely a new feeling around the Florida Gators with new coach Dan Mullen, but the program faces the same question mark.
How will the Gators fare at quarterback?
After a camp competition, sophomore Feleipe Franks will start Week 1. Mullen explained why he will be behind center during the SEC teleconference on Wednesday.
- It was a close (camp) battle, just some of the things he brings to the table, his athleticism. … We just felt he gave us the best chance to win.
Mullen also praised his other sophomore quarterback during the teleconference.
- Kyle (Trask) has been fantastic in practice. One thing we talk about is development. They all have so much development left to do and he understands that. … He understands he is one snap away, and he needs to be ready and ready to help the team.
Florida will host Charleston Southern at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Gators will also be home in Week 2 for their first SEC game against Kentucky on Sept. 8.
