Dan Mullen shared his thoughts on Shane Beamer’s postgame press conference following last Saturday’s 38-28 win over Jacksonville State.
The Gamecock (that of the SC variety) faithful were publicly critical of the team’s performance in the victory amidst a disappointing 2023 campaign, to which Beamer responded with a roughly four-minute long speech about how the fan base needs to take more joy in victories. Beamer implored the fans to enjoy not just the football victories, but also to take more solace in the fact that so many people get together on 7 fall Saturdays a year for such a special event in Columbia.
As a former Florida head coach that received a fair bit of heat in his day, Mullen backed up Beamer’s comments, referencing a Jon Hume song that encapsulates the meaning of Beamer’s message. Mullen added that the amount of hard work that every team puts in to a season means that it should celebrate each and every one of its victories in turn.
After listening to @CoachSBeamer press conference today. Thought I should share this
It’s hard to win. All coaches need to listen to @Jon_hume “Don’t Forget To Sing When You Win”.
Great song to remind you to enjoy and celebrate the hard work you put in no matter the opponent.
