Dan Mullen’s player of the week and team of the week lists had a distinctly Lone Star State flair to them after Week 2.

The former Florida and Mississippi State head coach, turned ESPN commentator, released his weekly honors on Monday, and his team of the week is Texas. The Longhorns defeated 34-24 at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.

Quinn Ewers threw for 349 yards and 3 touchdowns in that one, leading him to be named Mullen’s quarterback of the week. And the Longhorns’ defensive line was No. 4 on his defensive performances of the week. They’ll look to keep it going as they return to Austin to face Wyoming under the lights on Saturday.

While the Longhorns are SEC-bound in 2024, a current conference team received plaudits for their defensive performance: Georgia’s secondary, which recorded 3 interceptions in the 2nd quarter against Ball State.

That helped the Bulldogs to a 31-point quarter and an eventual 45-3 win over the Cardinals. Kirby Smart’s team remains at home on Saturday to take on South Carolina.
