Dan Mullen had Dameon Pierce in Florida’s backfield in 2021 and only handed him the ball 7.7 times per game.

Understandably, as Pierce continues to impress for the Houston Texans this preseason and seems to be the favorite for the starting job, Florida fans are upset he didn’t get more work.

They’re even more upset after Saturday night’s preseason debut for Pierce, in which he got 5 carries and ran for 49 yards (9.8 yards per carry). Look at some of the powerful runs Pierce turned in against the New Orleans Saints:

Naturally, that sent Florida fans scrambling to social media to call out their former coach for misusing the star running back.

Will Billy Napier do a better job of recognizing talent in the backfield? Florida fans will be watching closely as they also watch Pierce get plenty of work for the Texans this fall.
