The Orange Bowl is still a couple of weeks away, but it remains to be seen if Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa will be healthy enough to face Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Tagovailoa is dealing with an ankle injury, and it may be more serious than was originally thought.

On Thursday’s “The Dan Patrick Show,” host Dan Patrick said he’s heard that Tagovailoa’s status is only “iffy” for the Orange Bowl:

Obviously, there’s still time for Tagovailoa to rehab his injury and return to full strength, but bowl practices start up soon, and the Tide will need to have him ready to practice.

Having Jalen Hurts as a backup option is a big boost for Nick Saban’s squad, but Tagovailoa is an incredible talent and it would be best for the Tide if he was able to play.
