After the SEC’s lackluster weekend with losses by Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri and Ole Miss, a popular debate on radio and TV programs has been, ‘Is the SEC overrated?’
The “Dan Patrick Show” joined that conversation during a recent segment which was raised by Andrew Perloff, and joined by Paul Pabst and Patrick.
“I’d like to literally distance myself from this poll question,” Pabst said.
Added Patrick, “Yeah, I don’t want (Paul) Finebaum on my rear end.”
Pabst then rattled off the ranking positions of the top schools in the SEC: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida and Auburn.
“I think there’s a good argument. Tennessee’s not what they used to be,” Perloff said. “These teams are going to feast on. It used to be all SEC was good. Now there’s some questions.”
Patrick then set him straight.
“I think it’s a little too early, a little premature to have this poll question,” the host said.
Pabst said SEC fans would say, ‘Let’s compare the back end of the SEC to the back end of other conferences.”
Patrick then made a segue and openly wondered if new Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts is now a legitimate pro prospect after he wasn’t at Alabama.
“Oh yeah,” Perloff said.
Replied Patrick, “But at Alabama he wouldn’t have been?”
Perloff said, “Nope.”
“Isn’t that fascinating,” Patrick replied.
