Detroit Lions running back D’Andre Swift appears to be headed for the sidelines when his team visits the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
According to ESPN, the rookie sustained a concussion and was held out of practice on Thursday. The timing of the injury is unknown, with ESPN’s Michael Rothstein reporting that the former Georgia star participated in a post-practice media session on Wednesday.
Swift was slowly finding his way into the offensive rotation for the Lions in past weeks. The Lions went on to defeat Washington 30-27 on a last-second field goal.
The 1st-team All-SEC pick in 2019 has 331 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground, coming in 5th on the team in receiving yardage with 275 yards while adding 2 touchdown catches. All told, his 606 yards from scrimmage leads the Lions.
