For the second time in as many years, Auburn K Daniel Carlson is a Lou Groza Award finalist.
Carlson lost out last year on the award that goes to the nation’s top kicker to UCLA’s Ka’imi Fairbairn. This year, Carlson is up against Arizona State’s Zane Gonzales and Georgia Southern’s Younghoe Koo.
The junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. is 22-of-25 on field goals this season and leads all kickers with an 84.1 touchback percentage on kickoffs. He also holds score records for career field goals (63), field-goal percentage (82.1) and consecutive PATs (140).
The award will be announced on the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8, which has a listed start time of 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
