Danny Kanell breaks down what to expect from Carson Beck
By Rolando Rosa
Published:
Carson Beck is taking over for Stetson Bennett, who is now playing in the NFL, as the starting quarterback for back-to-back national champion Georgia.
The lofty goal of a 3-peat will largely hinge on whether Beck can continue the momentum build by the steadying presence of Bennett.
CBS Sports’ Danny Kanell doesn’t think there’ll be a massive drop-off for Georgia in the transitioning of quarterbacks.
“There will be 4⭐️ and 5⭐️ NFL talent all across the field.”

Kanell believes the offensive supporting cast and stellar defense will aid Beck in his maturation process. Also, Kanell points out the schedule isn’t too daunting.
“More of the same…There will be 4-star and 5-star NFL talent all across the field. It’ll be his job to make sure he doesn’t make the big mistakes and you have that defense to rely on…,” Kanell said. “The first real test and only test is in Knoxville against Tennessee…They’ll be able to really ease him in as the quarterback at Georgia.”
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Beck threw 4 touchdowns with no interceptions and had a 74.3 completion percentage in 7 appearances last season.
Beck and Georgia will start out their title defense with a home matchup vs. UT Martin on Sept. 2.
