Danny Kanell reveals predictions for 2025 College Football Playoff field

College football analyst Danny Kanell shared his projections for the 2025 College Football Playoff on Wednesday.

Kanell is one of the most vocal college football analysts and has often made the point that the SEC is overrated. While others believe 4 or 5 SEC teams could reach the Playoff this year, that’s not how Kanell sees it.

Kanell has only 3 teams from the SEC in: Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.

There are definitely some interesting teams in his CFP bracket. The most glaring omission is the Texas Longhorns, who are currently the No. 1 team in the country in nearly every ranking you will find. They have made it to the CFP semifinals in each of the last two seasons, and may have their best team since Steve Sarkisian took over as the coach.

A couple of the other teams in his field that would be looked at as surprising picks are Louisville and USC. Neither of these two teams are currently ranked in the Top 25 in either the AP or coaches poll, and would have to put together a special season to make it.

However, if Kanell is right and there is no Texas and USC and Louisville are in the field, then college football fans are in store for a wild 2025 season.
