Darius Garland exited the Cavaliers’ opening night game against the Raptors with a left eye injury and is not expected to return. He was struck by Toronto guard Gary Trent.

The former Vanderbilt guard is becoming one of the brighter young stars in the league. Hopefully, his exit is precautionary.

Garland, one of the top ranked prospects in the Class of 2018, played in just 5 games for the Commodores before suffering a season-ending injury. He immediately went pro following the season, negating Commodore fans from seeing one of their best prospects in school history.

Garland will be an important piece on a Cavs team that is starting to turn into one of the most exciting young teams in the league. The Cavs recently traded for former Jazz star Donovan Mitchell with former USC star Evan Mobley set to shine in his second year in the league.
