Country music star Darius Rucker is keeping good on his promise.
Rucker will play a student-only free concert for South Carolina Wednesday night at Colonial Life Arena, one he promised if the Gamecocks made a bowl game in 2016. That happened, of course, and Will Muschamp’s club finished 6-7 on the season.

Rucker is said to have some surprises for fans who come, too.
One Clemson fan took the opportunity to throw some shade at South Carolina fans on Twitter for the event, and Rucker fired right back.
It may be a bit before South Carolina and Muschamp get to Clemson’s level on the gridiron, but no doubt about it, getting free concerts from country superstars is a legitimate perk. Maybe Clemson can call Mark Tremonti to get Creed back together for a free concert.
Wednesday night’s event starts at 7:30 p.m. and features opener Patrick Davis.
