Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is reportedly nearing a deal to join Fox Sports and Big Noon Kickoff.
Front Office Sports first reported news of the talks on Wednesday afternoon. Per the report from Ryan Glasspiegel, Portnoy wouldn’t be the only Barstool personality joining the network. Other Barstool Sports content would appear on FS1 as part of the agreement, per FOS.
Big Noon Kickoff is FOX’s weekly pregame show that competes with ESPN’s College GameDay. That show travels from campus-to-campus each week, usually staging at the highest-profile Big Ten or Big 12 game on the schedule during a given week.
If Portnoy is installed as a permanent panelist, he’d be joined by Urban Meyer, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Mark Ingram and Rob Stone, among others.
Portnoy is a noted Michigan fan who was part of the recruiting pitch to land 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood this past recruiting cycle. Underwood was committed to LSU until he was ultimately swayed to come to Ann Arbor by Portnoy and billionaire Larry Ellison.
This would not be the first time for Barstool to have an agreement with a major TV network. Barstool’s Pardon My Take podcast famously had a deal with ESPN to do a show called ‘Barstool Van Talk’ back in 2017, but it was canceled after just 1 episode.
The agreement between Portnoy and Fox Sports has not yet been finalized.
