Dave Van Horn told the media Thursday that Hunter Hollan will be starting on Friday to open the Fayetteville Regional against Santa Clara.

The left-hander was the Razorbacks’ No. 1 starter to begin SEC play, will be pitching 8 days after his most recent outing against LSU at the SEC Tournament. Hollan allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 8 during 5 1/3 innings in Arkansas’ 5-4 victory over the Tigers, which was his first outing in relief.

Van Horn added that if Arkansas is playing Sunday night or Monday, the Razorbacks would like to have Hollan still ready to go in, if needed.

Van Horn shared his approach to leading the Razorbacks into the postseason.

“You don’t show panic,” Van Horn said. “You don’t change the workouts. You just try to take the pressure off the players as much as possible during the postseason and have them go out and have fun.”

Along with Santa Clara, Arizona and TCU are also at the regional.

“During this time of year, I don’t read D1baseball. I don’t read Twitter,” Van Horn said. “I don’t know what everyone is saying, but I do know this regional is the one of the top 2 toughest regionals this postseason.”
