David Cutcliffe, who recently stepped down as Duke’s coach, is reportedly joining the SEC, according to a report from ESPN.
Cutcliffe coached Duke for 15 seasons, but the school announced a “mutual agreement for separation” in November following the Blue Devils’ winless ACC record, and 3-9 mark overall. Cutcliffe, though, may be remembered for turning Duke into a respectable program and a regular bowl team. Duke even won a division title in 2013, before a dropoff the last 2 seasons.
Overall, Duke won 77 games in Cutcliffe’s 14 seasons, including 6 bowl appearances and 3 postseason wins, the program’s first since 1961.
Cutcliffe will reportedly work as a special assistant to the commissioner in a football relations role, according to Chris Low and Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

Before Duke, Cutcliffe was most known for being one of the more respected offensive coaches in college football as the former Ole Miss coach and Tennessee offensive coordinator led offenses run by both Peyton and Eli Manning at the college level.
He was 44-29 at Ole Miss, and 77-97 at Duke.
