David Pollack had praise for Texas A&M Conner Weigman in light of the Aggies’ recent success as the team most recently defeated the top-10 Missouri Tigers, 41-10.

They’re now on a five-game winning streak, suffering their only loss in the 23-13 fall to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the first contest of the season.

“The dude is good,” Pollack said of Weigman. “He’s got some really big gifts … Conner Weigman and his poise, Conner Weigman and his somewhat athletic ability. He is obviously not as athletic as the other guy.”

That type of athleticism is something Texas A&M backup quarterback Marcel Reed impressed with in Weigman’s absence, but Pollack views Weigman as the better overall quarterback.

“Marcel (Reed) has done a great job and he’s more athletic, but (Weigman) is more polished and he’s going through routes, going through his progressions. He scrambled when he needed to.”

After a rough start to then year and an injury that made him look like one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the preseason, Weigman has bounced back and redeemed himself for the time being, completing 62.1% of his passes for 501 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions over three games.

He’ll aim to continue that success as Texas A&M faces Mississippi State up next on the schedule at 3:15 p.m. CT on Oct. 19, coming off of an open date for the Aggies.
