With the 12-team College Football Playoff set to get underway this Friday, analysts across the nation are laying down their picks for the upcoming bracket.
Former Georgia defensive lineman/linebacker David Pollack took to Yahoo Sports Daily to reveal his selection for the field, and he notably did not have his alma mater coming out on top.
Instead, Pollack sees the Bulldogs losing to Ohio State in the semifinals, and he believes that the Buckeyes are the best bet to win it all.
“If you ask me to pick, I would take Ohio State with their combination of weapons at receiver,” Pollack said. “The thing about Georgia is, they got into a shootout with Ohio State a couple years ago and won, but can they get into a shootout this year? They did it against Tennessee, but against a really good Ohio State defense, I think it would be harder to do.”
Pollack went on to add that there are 4 teams in the field that he believes can win it all, listing off Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, and Oregon. He also emphasized that 3 of those schools hail from the Big Ten, keying in on one reason why that is the case.
“The quarterback play is really elite. Fernando Mendoza, No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. Dante Moore will be a top-10 pick when he decides to come out to the draft. Julian Sayin, first-round pick.” Pollack said. “Gunner Stockton has an elite defense and supporting cast, so he’s not even remotely in that conversation. So the talent and way they can win is different than everyone else.”
The latest national championship odds back up Pollack’s claim, showing Ohio State as the favorite to win it all. Grab this BetMGM bonus code to bet on the postseason.
