David Pollack is seeing the top players in the country start to separate themselves as they try and lead their teams to conference championships as well as the College Football Playoff. Many of those players figure to be legitimate candidates for the Heisman Trophy, which is gearing up to be one of the most competitive races for the award in sometime.
Pollack posted his top 5 candidates on social media, and he believes Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is the top guy right now.
Alabama had a tough matchup against South Carolina, but Simpson did what a Heisman Trophy winner does when it mattered the most. Trailing 22-14 late in the fourth quarter, Simpson led the team on two scoring drives to get the 29-22 victory.
Fernando Mendoza and Haynes King had big games on Saturday, and they are both leading undefeated teams on dream seasons for the program.
Trinidad Chambliss helped Ole Miss bounce back from the loss to get a win against the Oklahoma Sooners. The Rebels have no more remaining games on the schedule against ranked teams, and are in prime position to make it to the CFP for the first time.
No player in college football sent a bigger message to the sport than Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed this past Saturday, as he finished with 310 total yards of offense and four touchdowns in the dominating victory against LSU.
Usually at this point in the season, there is one guy that feels like he is in complete control of the race. That isn’t the case this year, as all five of these guys could have the type of November that steals the award.
