College football analyst David Pollack isn’t buying into the usual suspects this season. After four weeks of action, he believes Miami is the best team in the land.

Pollack revealed his latest College Football Playoff predictions on CBS Sports and stunned many by putting the Hurricanes at No. 1 overall. He praised quarterback Carson Beck, Miami’s balanced offense, and a suffocating defense that just shut down Florida in a 26-7 rivalry win.

“I think Miami’s the best team in the country,” Pollack said on Saturday. “Miami is the best team I’ve seen so far … I love their defensive line. They don’t have to twist, they don’t have to stunt. They just have a bunch of people that are going to kick the absolute crud out of you. They are so good and physical up front to play the run, to rush the passer. Their offensive line are a bunch of maulers. Carson Beck protected, it’s a nice thing isn’t it?”

Moreover, convincing victories over South Florida (49-12) and Bethune-Cookman (45-3) in recent weeks has bolstered their case after besting Notre Dame 27-24 in Week 1. As they rest over their Week 5 bye, the Hurricanes brace for a battle against a Florida State team that has a chip on its shoulder after a 46-38 OT upset loss to Virginia on Friday.
